Splodges are irregular spots, blots, or patches of something—typically color, ink, or other substance: splodges of paint on the floor, a splodge of ketchup on his shirt.
The word is chiefly British, equivalent to American splotches.
To splodge is to mark with such spots.
The singular splodge works the same way.
