song circle

A song circle is an informal gathering where participants sit together and take turns sharing songs, usually acoustic and often around a campfire or in a living room.

The format is democratic—each person gets a turn to sing, play, or pass.

Song circles are common in folk music communities, summer camps, and spiritual retreats: We stayed up late in the song circle, passing the guitar around.
