soft limits
Negotiable personal boundaries
Soft limits are boundaries that can be exceeded under certain conditions, as opposed to hard limits which are absolute.
In BDSG contexts, soft limits are activities a person is hesitant about but might explore with the right partner or circumstances: Bondage was a soft limit for her until she built more trust.
In computing and systems administration, soft limits are default thresholds that can be raised by users or processes, while hard limits cannot be bypassed without administrative privileges.
