social justice warriors
Progressive cause champions
Social justice warriors, often abbreviated SJW, is a pejorative for people who advocate loudly for progressive causes—particularly around race, gender, and sexuality.
The term mocks perceived self-righteousness, performative outrage, or excessive political correctness: The SJWs are trying to cancel another comedian.
Originally neutral or even positive, it became an insult in online culture wars of the 2010s.
