sobriety check
Officer tests driver
A sobriety check is a roadside test to determine whether a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs.
Police may set up sobriety checkpoints where they stop vehicles systematically, or conduct checks after observing erratic driving.
Tests typically include field sobriety exercises—walking a line, standing on one leg—and breathalyzer readings: He was nervous about the sobriety check even though he'd only had one beer.
