slot car

Grooved track vehicle

A slot car is a miniature electric racing car that runs on a track with grooves (slots) that guide the vehicle.

The car draws power from the track through a small pin or blade that fits into the slot, and drivers control speed with a handheld trigger.

Slot car racing became a popular hobby in the 1960s, with both home sets and commercial raceways: We spent hours in the basement with our slot cars.
