skycaps
Curbside luggage handlers
Skycaps are airline porters who handle luggage at airport curbsides, checking bags and issuing boarding passes before passengers enter the terminal.
The term combines sky (for air travel) with redcap, the traditional name for railroad porters.
Skycaps typically work for tips: I gave the skycap five dollars to check my bags.
