situation rooms

Emergency command hubs

A situation room is a secure space where government or military leaders gather to monitor and respond to crises in real time.

The term gained prominence from the White House Situation Room, established under Kennedy.

By extension, any command center for managing emergencies may be called a situation room: The campaign set up a situation room to track election night returns.
