sick notes
Medical absence letters
Sick notes are official documents from a doctor or healthcare provider confirming that someone is too ill to work or attend school.
Employers and institutions require them to verify absences: HR won't accept more than three days off without a sick note.
In British usage, also called fit notes since 2010, when the form was redesigned to focus on what workers can do rather than what they can't.
