shuttle diplomat
Traveling peace broker
A shuttle diplomat is a negotiator who travels back and forth between parties who won't meet directly, carrying proposals and counteroffers.
The term comes from shuttle diplomacy, the practice of mediating by physically moving between capitals or locations: Kissinger was the original shuttle diplomat, flying between Middle Eastern capitals in 1973.
The phrase sometimes describes anyone who mediates between hostile parties in any context.
