shoulder belts
Torso safety straps
Shoulder belts are straps that cross diagonally over the torso, anchoring at the shoulder and hip.
The term most often refers to the diagonal portion of a vehicle seatbelt, as distinguished from the lap belt: The car had only lap belts, no shoulder belts.
Historically, shoulder belts supported swords or ammunition pouches across a soldier's chest.
