lap belts
Basic car restraints
Lap belts are seatbelts that fasten across the hips, without a diagonal shoulder strap.
Once standard in automobiles, they've been largely replaced by three-point belts that add shoulder restraint.
Lap belts remain common on airplanes and in rear middle seats: Please fasten your lap belts for takeoff.
