shooting party
Armed hunting gathering
A shooting party is an organized group outing to hunt game birds or other wildlife, traditionally associated with the British upper class on country estates.
The term evokes tweeds, shotguns, and beaters driving pheasants toward the shooters: The duke hosted a shooting party each autumn.
The activity is social as much as sporting.
