selection criteria
Basis for choosing
Selection criteria are the standards used to evaluate and choose among options—candidates for a job, proposals for funding, entries in a competition.
The term appears most often in formal contexts where decisions must be justified: Applicants who don't meet the selection criteria will not be interviewed.
The criteria specify what qualities matter and how they'll be weighted.
