season arc
Television narrative trajectory
A season arc is the overarching storyline that develops across an entire season of a television series, as opposed to self-contained episodes.
The arc connects individual episodes through recurring plot threads, character development, or mysteries that build toward resolution in the season finale: The show's season arc follows the detective's pursuit of a serial killer.
Shows may have multiple season arcs running simultaneously.
