screenname

Digital identity choice

A screenname is a username or handle identifying someone online—on social media, in chat rooms, or in gaming.

The term emerged in the early internet era, especially with services like AOL, where your screenname was your online identity.

It implies a degree of anonymity or persona separate from one's real name: I don't remember her actual name, just her screenname.
