run-on sentence

Fused independent clauses

A run-on sentence is one that improperly joins two or more independent clauses without appropriate punctuation or conjunctions.

The term is used in grammar instruction to identify a common writing error: She went to the store she bought milk should be two sentences or joined with punctuation.

Sometimes called a fused sentence.
