Kids' noisy space
A rumpus room is a room in a house set aside for noisy play, games, or casual recreation—typically in a basement or converted space where children can be loud without disturbing the rest of the household: The kids are downstairs in the rumpus room.
The term is somewhat dated, largely replaced by "family room" or "rec room."
