Summer skiing substitute
Roller skis are wheeled devices strapped to boots that simulate cross-country skiing on pavement or other hard surfaces.
They consist of a narrow platform with small wheels at each end, used with poles for training when snow isn't available: The team practiced on roller skis all summer.
