ringbarking
Bark removal method
Ringbarking is the practice of cutting a ring of bark from around a tree trunk, severing the layer that carries nutrients between roots and leaves.
This kills the tree without felling it—a method used to clear land or eliminate unwanted trees gradually.
Also called girdling.
The settlers ringbarked acres of forest to create farmland.
