retinal tear
Vision layer damage
A retinal tear is a break in the thin tissue lining the back of the eye, often caused by aging, trauma, or severe nearsightedness.
Left untreated, fluid can seep through the tear and separate the retina from underlying tissue, leading to retinal detachment and potential vision loss.
Symptoms include sudden floaters, flashes of light, or a shadow across the visual field: The ophthalmologist found a small retinal tear and recommended immediate laser treatment.
