retail work
Selling to customers
Retail work is employment in stores that sell goods directly to consumers—cashiers, sales associates, stock clerks, and similar positions.
The term often carries connotations of low wages, irregular scheduling, and demanding customer interactions: I did retail work all through college.
Someone who has worked retail understands the particular exhaustion of being on your feet and maintaining cheerfulness for hours.
