resting face
Unguarded default look
Resting face is the neutral expression someone's face settles into when they're not actively emoting—relaxed, unguarded, perhaps staring at nothing.
The term gained currency through resting bitch face, describing a neutral expression that looks irritated or unfriendly, especially on women.
The broader resting face acknowledges that everyone has a default expression: His resting face looks perpetually sad.
