restart point
Continue from here
A restart point is a saved position in a video game where play resumes after failure—dying, losing, or quitting.
The term overlaps with checkpoint, though restart point emphasizes where you return to rather than where progress was recorded: The restart point was right before the boss fight, thankfully.
The concept extends to any process with built-in recovery positions.
