reorchestration

Rescoring a composition

Reorchestration is the act of arranging music for a different combination of instruments than the original.

A symphony might be reorchestrated for a smaller ensemble, or a chamber piece expanded for full orchestra.

The term extends beyond music to any fundamental reorganization: The merger required a complete reorchestration of the company's operations.
