regency council
Governing for minors
A regency council is a group appointed to govern on behalf of a monarch who cannot rule—typically because the heir to the throne is a minor, or the sovereign is incapacitated, absent, or otherwise unable to discharge royal duties.
Unlike a single regent, a regency council distributes authority among several members, often representing different factions or interests within the realm.
The regency council ruled for eight years until the young king came of age.
