Red mite refers to any of several tiny arachnids with reddish coloring, most commonly the poultry red mite—a blood-feeding parasite that infests chickens and other birds.
These mites hide in cracks during the day and emerge at night to feed, causing anemia, reduced egg production, and sometimes death in severe infestations.
