red carpet coverage

Red carpet coverage is media reporting on celebrity arrivals at major events—award shows, film premieres, fashion galas.

Cameras capture who wore what, who came with whom, and brief interviews as stars walk the literal red carpet.

The phrase names both the broadcast itself and the genre: I watched the red carpet coverage before the Oscars.
