red-teaming
Simulated hostile probing
Red-teaming is the practice of testing a system, organization, or plan by having a group deliberately attack it or find its weaknesses.
The red team plays the adversary—probing for security vulnerabilities, challenging assumptions, or exposing flaws before real opponents do.
Originally military terminology, it now appears in cybersecurity, AI safety, and business strategy: We're red-teaming the product launch to anticipate what could go wrong.
