queenies
Manx bay scallops
Queenies is a plural with several informal uses.
Most commonly, queenies are queen scallops—small, sweet shellfish popular in British coastal cuisine: We had queenies in garlic butter.
The term can also be an affectionate or mildly disparaging word for effeminate gay men, depending on context and who's speaking.
In some regions, queenies are small potatoes.
