puppet characters
Stringed stage performers
Puppet characters are figures designed to be manipulated by a performer—from hand puppets and marionettes to the elaborate creations of productions like Sesame Street or Avenue Q.
The term distinguishes animated figures from human actors or drawn animation: The show features both live actors and puppet characters.
In broader use, puppet characters may describe anyone perceived as controlled by others: The board members were just puppet characters for the CEO.
