puberty talk
Birds and bees
A puberty talk is a conversation, typically between a parent and child, explaining the physical and emotional changes that come with adolescence—body development, menstruation, sexual maturation.
The talk is often dreaded by both parties: My dad gave me the puberty talk when I was eleven.
Sometimes called "the talk," though that phrase can also mean a conversation about sex more broadly.
