price out
Make unaffordably expensive
To price out is to determine the cost of something by calculating or researching: We priced out the renovation at forty thousand dollars.
It also means to exclude through high prices: Rising rents have priced out longtime residents.
In the second sense, being priced out means you can no longer afford something you once could.
