plonking
Setting down heavily
Plonking describes a heavy, resonant, somewhat dull sound—the noise of something dropping or being set down without grace: the plonking of raindrops on a tin roof.
It can also describe clumsy piano playing or any ungainly thumping.
As a verb form, plonking means setting something down carelessly: She came in plonking groceries on the counter.
