A platform diver is an athlete who performs acrobatic dives from a rigid elevated surface, typically ten meters above the water.
Unlike springboard diving, which uses a flexible board for bounce, platform diving relies on the diver's own momentum and the height of the fall: She trained for years as a platform diver before making the Olympic team.
