plain folk
Simple, everyday citizens
Plain folk is a persuasion technique that presents someone—typically a politician or advertiser—as an ordinary, relatable person rather than elite or privileged: The senator's plain folk appeal included photos of him grilling burgers in his backyard.
The term also refers to common, everyday people themselves, often rural or working-class, presented without pretension: plain folk who work the land.
