pinbone
Cattle skeletal landmark
Pinbone refers to the small, slender bones embedded in fish fillets, especially in salmon and trout.
These Y-shaped bones run along the center of the fillet and must be removed before cooking or eating: Use tweezers to pull out the pinbones.
In butchery, the pinbone is also the hip bone in beef or pork, visible in certain cuts like the pinbone sirloin.
