pavement artists
Street chalk creators
Pavement artists create artwork directly on sidewalks or plazas, typically using chalk or pastels.
They work in public spaces, often for tips from passersby.
The term is primarily British; Americans might say sidewalk artist.
The phrase can also refer to someone who sketches suspects for police, or dismissively, to a spy who conducts street-level surveillance.
