partial scholarship
Incomplete tuition coverage
A partial scholarship covers some but not all educational costs, leaving the recipient responsible for the remainder.
Unlike a full scholarship, which pays tuition, fees, and sometimes room and board, a partial scholarship might cover only a percentage of tuition or a fixed dollar amount: She received a partial scholarship that covered about half her tuition.
Students often combine partial scholarships with loans or other aid to meet total costs.
