Scornful vocal burst
Pah is an exclamation expressing contempt, dismissal, or impatient disbelief: Pah! That's nonsense.
It represents a breathy, almost spitting sound of disdain.
The word is somewhat old-fashioned and literary, appearing more often in novels than in contemporary speech.
Similar to bah or pooh.
