overroasted
Cooked too long
Overroasted describes something roasted too long or at too high a temperature, resulting in bitterness, dryness, or burnt flavors.
The term appears most often with coffee beans, where overroasting destroys subtle flavors and leaves only harsh, ashy notes: This espresso tastes overroasted.
It applies equally to nuts, vegetables, or meat that has spent too long in the oven.
