overpronating
Ankles rolling too far
Overpronating describes excessive inward rolling of the foot during walking or running.
When the foot strikes the ground, some pronation is natural, but overpronating means the ankle rolls too far inward, stressing joints and potentially causing injury.
The term appears most often in discussions of running form and shoe selection: I've been overpronating, so I need stability shoes.
