Overmarked describes something that has been marked too heavily, too often, or with excessive notation.
A student's essay might be overmarked by a zealous teacher, covered in so much red ink that the original text disappears.
In retail contexts, overmarked goods have been priced too high: The clearance items were still overmarked.
The term also applies to animals with coat patterns—an overmarked dog has more spots or patches than breed standards prefer.
