An outside man is someone who works externally for an organization, particularly in criminal contexts.
In a con or heist, the outside man handles tasks away from the main scene—making contacts, running surveillance, or managing getaway logistics—while the inside man operates within the target location.
The term also applies to legitimate sales or field representatives who work outside the office: He's our outside man for the western territory.
