online mode
Networked gaming option
Online mode is a state in which a device, application, or game connects to the internet, enabling features that require network access—multiplayer gaming, cloud syncing, real-time updates.
The term usually contrasts with offline mode: You need to be in online mode to access your saved progress.
Some software requires online mode to function at all.
