notarized copy
Officially witnessed reproduction
A notarized copy is a photocopy of a document that a notary public has certified as a true reproduction of the original.
The notary witnesses the copying, stamps or seals the copy, and signs to attest its authenticity.
Notarized copies are commonly required for legal proceedings, immigration applications, and official transactions where originals cannot be surrendered: The embassy required a notarized copy of my birth certificate.
