nonvocational
Outside professional training
Nonvocational describes activities, education, or pursuits that aren't aimed at preparing someone for a specific job or career.
A nonvocational course might teach art appreciation or philosophy rather than welding or nursing.
The term often appears in educational contexts to distinguish general enrichment from job training: nonvocational rehabilitation, nonvocational interests.
