nonartists

Those without portfolios

Nonartists are people who are not artists—those who don't create art professionally or as a serious pursuit.

The term typically appears in contexts where a distinction matters, such as studies comparing how artists and nonartists perceive images, or discussions about whether nonartists can appreciate art as deeply as its creators.

The experiment measured how nonartists responded to abstract paintings.
