nobbling
Sabotaging a competitor
Nobbling is the act of tampering with a racehorse to prevent it from winning—typically through drugging or other underhanded methods.
The term extends to any corrupt interference: nobbling a jury, nobbling witnesses.
In British slang, to nobble someone can also mean to grab their attention or corner them: I managed to nobble him after the meeting.
