neutral language
Words without bias
Neutral language avoids terms that convey bias, judgment, or emotional charge.
In discussions of gender, neutral language replaces gendered terms with inclusive ones: firefighter instead of fireman, they instead of he or she.
More broadly, neutral language aims to describe without favoring any side: died rather than was martyred, terminated the pregnancy rather than killed the baby.
The goal is precision without loaded connotations.
